Special Olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. In Maine we serve over 5000 athletes and offer 70+ events year round at the local, state, national and international levels.
What We Do
Fundraising events are critical in helping Special Olympics Maine to raise the funds needed to provide inclusive sports opportunities to Maine's athletes. We have many events throughout the year across the state of Maine. Each fundraiser helps us to get closer to our goal of increasing athlete participation and awareness and expanding opportunities and offerings.
Volunteer positions at fundraising events range from registration, set up/break down, specialized positions (medical, safety, DJ's, etc.), parking attendants and so much more! We hope that you'll consider volunteering at one of our many fundraising events where we'll raise much needed funds for Maine's athletes while having fun!
