About the volunteer role:
Volunteers at the souvenirs tent will be selling souvenirs and assisting athletes, coaches and spectators with any questions they have in regards to the items being sold. Volunteers will accept cash, checks or process credit cards as payment using our card swipe system. This is a largely independent role, ideal for someone (or a group) who feels confident working independently with minimal Special Olympics Maine staff support. The souvenirs tent is open during the competitions.
Please only choose this volunteer opportunity if you feel confident and comfortable using technology and making decisions in a busy environment.
A Special Olympics Maine staff will show and teach you how to use the card swipe and other technology and the guidelines for the souvenirs tent. All items will be clearly priced.
About the event:
Special Olympics Maine’s State Summer Games is our largest
event of the year. Held at The University of Maine in Orono the event draws
thousands of athletes, coaches, partners, spectators and volunteers. State
Summer Games is over Friday, June 6 - Sunday, June 8 and has volunteer
opportunities from morning till night! Many teams consisting of athletes and
coaches stay the weekend in the dorms. Athletes participate in bocce and
athletics (track and field) competitions. There are numerous special events like
opening ceremonies, the parade of athletes, a dance, athlete village and more.
It takes a village to seamlessly run this incredible event and we hope you’ll
help to make 2025 State Summer Games our best event yet!
