About the volunteer role:
Volunteers will do one or some of the following: organize athletes in assigned divisions/heats, escort athletes to starting area, escort athletes to awards podium at the completion of the event.
About the event:
Special Olympics Maine’s State Summer Games is our largest event of the year. Held at The University of Maine in Orono the event draws thousands of athletes, coaches, partners, spectators and volunteers. State Summer Games is over Friday, June 9-Sunday, June 11 and has volunteer opportunities from morning till night! Many teams consisting of athletes and coaches stay the weekend in the dorms. Athletes participate in bocce and athletics (track and field) competitions. There are numerous special events like opening ceremonies, the parade of athletes, a dance, welcome BBQ, athlete village and more. It takes a village to seamlessly run this incredible event and we hope you’ll help to make 2023 State Summer Games our best event yet!
