About the event: 

Special Olympics Maine’s State Summer Games is our largest event of the year. Held at The University of Maine in Orono the event draws thousands of athletes, coaches, partners, spectators and volunteers. State Summer Games is over Friday, June 7 - Sunday, June 9 and has volunteer opportunities from morning till night! Many teams consisting of athletes and coaches stay the weekend in the dorms. Athletes participate in bocce and athletics (track and field) competitions. There are numerous special events like opening ceremonies, the parade of athletes, a dance, athlete village and more. It takes a village to seamlessly run this incredible event and we hope you’ll help to make 2024 State Summer Games our best event yet!
